CiiRUS Team Member Spotlight: Meet Charlotte Parry
Here at CiiRUS, the greatest pleasure of what we do is in building relationships with customers and partners. After all, the travel and hospitality industries revolve around relationships and quality service. We’d like you to meet and get to know the amazing people behind the scenes who help make CiiRUS the leader in vacation rental software.
In this edition of the CiiRUS Team Member Spotlight, meet VP of Development Coordination, Charlotte Parry. Let’s get to know Charlotte as she shares some insight about herself, her role at CiiRUS, and more.
Briefly describe what your role is at CiiRUS.
I first started at CiiRUS in 2015 as a Web Developer. About two years later I transitioned to our Training & Onboarding team which I loved as I got to interact with all our users, however, my roots have always been with websites and using my creativity. It was meant to be, so I transitioned back over to the development team earlier this year. I now oversee the Website Development team and I assist our programmers with speccing, testing, and writing documentation for new features.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love getting to use my creative side when rolling out new website templates and coming up with ideas to improve the look and feel of our users' websites, as this is the face of their company.
What does your workspace look like?
Great question! Since transitioning to working at home due to COVID, I have a small desk in the guest room of my two-bedroom apartment. I sure do miss the office, but I love getting to work with my cats!
What has been one of your proudest moments working at CiiRUS?
I would say just looking back to when I first started and seeing how much I have accomplished over the past 5 years. From learning the entire system to training new employees and over 300 CiiRUS users on the system, and now rolling out new websites and user documentation, I feel so proud of how much I have grown and achieved within the company, helping our customers achieve the same professional growth along the way.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
Right now, I am really enjoying spending time with my fiance and planning our wedding and honeymoon.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my friends and family.
What is something you learned in the last week?
I have learned how to better document and report (rare!) software bugs to our programming team. I even made a bug report! Streamlining these processes allows us to take care of our customers' concerns and enhance the software more rapidly and effectively. We joke on the development team, “there's no such thing as a bug, it’s an undocumented feature!” If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
Hmm, that's a tough one! I would say teleportation. I have a lot of friends and family in England, and I would love to be able to get there with a snap of my fingers.
How do you define success?
Success to me is working hard each day and staying focused to complete my short and long-term goals.
What are five words of advice you'd give to other vacation rental industry professionals on their journey of growth?
