What is a Static IP address An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical label that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol for communication between its nodes. Most home and office internet connections use dynamic IP. A dynamic IP is an address randomly assigned to your home or office by your internet provider each time your modem is restarted and connects to the internet. A static IP can be requested from most internet providers. A static IP is fixed to a physical location such as your office or home office. With a static IP your office or home office will always have the same IP address (like a fixed home or office phone number). This ensures each time you connect to the internet the IP address is always the same. Only computers located at the physical location can access your account. How does Static IP access work with Property Manager When you assign a static IP address to your restriction list, then only the computers that use the assigned IP address can access your account. For example if you restrict IP access to 153.85.23.51 (for example, your office static IP address) then you can only access your Property Manager account from your office using your username and password. Your internet provider can provide you with a static IP address for your office or home office. Add the IP to your list of Property Manager safe IP's. After you have activated the feature, access to your property manager account can only be accessed from the physical location where the IP has been provided, usually your office or home office. Property manager allows you to set multiple IP access. For example you can set IP restriction for your office, your home and your mobile device. This would ensure that your account can only be accessed from the three devices/locations only. If you require advice securing your system, contact us via the helpdesk.
